Bisan Owda Wins Prestigious Peabody Award for Journalism Excellence
Bisan Owda has just received one of the most esteemed honors in audiovisual journalism: the Peabody Award, for her work with digital media outlet AJ+.
Currently facing violent Israeli bombardments in Rafah, in the occupied Gaza Strip, Bisan dedicated her award to "university students who protest, to all those who take to the streets, to those who participate in boycotts, and to all individuals worldwide, regardless of their religion, color, ethnicity, and gender."
This young woman in her twenties works with the United Nations on gender equality as a member of the UN Women's Agora Forum for youth innovation. Owda is also involved in climate change efforts with the EU, where she serves as a goodwill ambassador.
