Tunisian Government Pushes for Reforms and Improved Public Services
The Tunisian head of government, Kamel Maddouri, called for intensified reforms and improved governance of public services during the Council of Ministers meeting held on Thursday, January 30, 2025. He emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of economic and social programs by mobilizing all state resources.
Maddouri stressed the need to modernize public structures and adopt concrete solutions to reinforce their effectiveness during the meeting.
Three projects were examined:
Health
Tunisia plans to open a coordination office for the Arab Council of Medical Specialties. This project aims to boost the training of healthcare professionals and strengthen the country's influence in this field at the regional level.
Civil Protection
A €50 million loan agreement was concluded with the French Development Agency (AFD) to modernize equipment and enhance the response capabilities of rescue services in the face of natural disasters.
Education
The government extended the primary school development program funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. This project involves the construction of 50 new schools, the extension of 2,000 establishments, and the renovation of 800 others, with a focus on digital equipment.
