Imminent Solution to Libyan Patients' Debt Issue Announced
On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Bchira Rahim, Director General of Health Service Exportation and Investment Support at the Ministry of Health, announced an imminent solution to the issue of Libyan patients' debt.
Consensus Reached Between Tunisian and Libyan Delegations
During a meeting between the Tunisian Minister of Health and a high-ranking Libyan delegation, including Ahmed Miltan, President of the Agency for Medical Services Support and Development, Libyan Ambassador to Tunisia Mustafa Qadara, and Haitham Al-Suwaidi, Senior Advisor to the Libyan Embassy, a consensus was reached to resolve the outstanding financial issues. Rahim indicated that both parties expressed their shared desire to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
Joint Committee to Overcome Administrative and Financial Complications
As part of this collaboration, it was also agreed to establish a joint committee comprising delegates from the Tunisian and Libyan Ministries of Health to overcome recent administrative and financial complications.
Strategic Health Sector Collaboration Between Tunisia and Libya
Rahim highlighted a project to establish hospitals in Libya, under the direction of Tunisian directors and specialists, which was submitted. This project is expected to intensify bilateral cooperation in the health sector. Furthermore, the idea of setting up pharmaceutical production plants in Tunisia, financed by Libya, was discussed to ensure health and pharmaceutical security for both nations. This collaboration is likely to have a positive impact on the production and distribution of medicines in Tunisia and Libya, consolidating the autonomy of both countries.
