Mobile Phone Subscriptions in Tunisia Reach 16.4 Million in 2023

The number of mobile phone subscriptions in Tunisia (Tunisie Télécom, Ooredoo Tunisie, Orange Tunisie, Lycamobile, and Cayon Cloud Communications 3C) reached 16.4 million in 2023, marking a significant increase of 29% compared to 12.7 million in 2013, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

3G Coverage Reaches 99.8% of the Population

In its 2022 annual report on infrastructure indicators, the INS also revealed that 3G coverage has progressed from 89.5% in 2013 to 99.8% in 2023, according to the Tunisian news agency TAP. This growth is attributed to constant investments in modernizing infrastructure, including the expansion and upgrading of switching systems, improving and diversifying service quality, and extending and densifying mobile network capacity.

Mobile Internet Subscriptions Surge to 11.8 Million

The mobile internet sector has also experienced significant growth, with the number of subscriptions increasing from 3.4 million in 2013 to 11.8 million in 2023.

Fixed-Line Telephony and Internet Subscriptions on the Rise

The number of fixed-line telephone subscriptions (Tunisie Télécom, Ooredoo, and Orange) reached 1.8 million in 2022. The fixed internet sector has also seen notable growth, with the number of subscriptions increasing from 0.6 million in 2013 to 1.7 million in 2022. As a result, the density of fixed internet networks reached 15.7 subscriptions per 100 inhabitants in 2022, compared to 5.5 subscriptions per 100 inhabitants in 2013.
