U.S. Embassy Opens 2026 Diversity Visa Lottery Program
The U.S. Embassy has launched the 2026 Diversity Visa Lottery Program, also known as the "Green Card Lottery." Registration began on October 2, 2024, at 12:00 PM (EDT) and will end on November 5, 2024, at 12:00 PM (EST). This program offers over 50,000 immigrant visas to individuals from countries with historically low immigration rates.
Note that registration is free and can only be done online through the official website: https://dvprogram.state.gov/.
Applicants are advised not to wait until the last week to register, as this may cause delays on the website. During registration, it is essential to print and save the confirmation page with the unique code, as the embassy will not be able to replace it.
Starting May 3, 2025, participants will be able to check their registration status on the website. Those selected will receive instructions on how to apply for an immigrant visa.
