Tunisia's Olive Oil Exportation: A Call for Innovation and Packaging

Tunisia still exports the majority of its olive oil in bulk. According to the European Union delegation in Tunisia, 88.4% of the volumes leave the country without packaging, compared to only 11.6% that are packaged and marketed locally. This situation limits the creation of added value and reduces the capacity of Tunisian products to position themselves in high-end markets.

The Need for Change

In response to this situation, a series of B2B professional meetings will be held on May 5, 2026, at the Tunis Convention Center. The event will bring together producers, exporters, designers, and artisans to develop innovative packaging solutions and create new partnerships.

Event Program

The program includes an exhibition of over 30 ceramic bottles, showcasing modern design and artisanal expertise. The organizers will also offer networking sessions to encourage cooperation between sector actors.

Organizers and Partners

The event is organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in partnership with several national institutions, including the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX). The initiative is part of the "Creative Tunisia" project, supported by the European Union and the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development (AICS), under the "Tounes Wijhetouna" program.

Objectives and Expectations

The goal of this event is to promote the development of innovative packaging solutions, create new partnerships, and increase the value added of Tunisian olive oil exports. By bringing together key stakeholders and promoting cooperation, the event aims to enhance the competitiveness of the Tunisian olive oil sector and position it in high-end markets.
