Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed Highlights Strategic Importance of 2025 Olive Harvest

During a meeting held on Monday, October 6, at the Carthage Palace with the Minister of Agriculture, President Kaïs Saïed emphasized the strategic importance of the 2025 olive harvest, marked by an expected exceptional yield thanks to the return of rainfall after years of drought.

Key Objectives for the 2025 Olive Harvest

The President stressed the need to carefully prepare all stages of the process: harvesting, transportation, extraction, and packaging, to ensure the optimal quality of the final product. He called for efforts to go beyond traditional markets such as the European Union and to intensify efforts towards new economic partners, particularly in Asia, South America, and sub-Saharan Africa, where demand for healthy and natural products like olive oil is growing rapidly.

Promoting Local Branding and Supporting Small Farmers

The Head of State also highlighted the central role of local packaging, emphasizing the importance of exporting Tunisian olive oil under the Tunisian brand, rather than in bulk, to maximize its added value and strengthen Tunisia's international image. He recalled the importance of supporting small farmers by facilitating their access to financing, training, and commercial outlets, to ensure a more inclusive and sustainable agriculture.

Towards Food Self-Sufficiency and National Development

According to his statement, food self-sufficiency begins with the valorization of local seeds and the intelligent exploitation of available agricultural land. This clear and ambitious orientation places Tunisian "green gold" at the heart of a national strategy that combines economic development, social justice, and international influence.
