Tunisian Olive Oil Exports See Significant Growth in 2025/2026 Campaign
According to data from the National Observatory of Agriculture (Onagri), Tunisian olive oil exports have had a very dynamic start in the first three months of the 2025/2026 campaign. Between November 2025 and January 2026, exported quantities reached 130,900 tons, compared to 84,100 tons during the same period of the previous campaign, representing a 55.7% increase.
Export Volumes and Categories
However, the majority of this oil continues to be exported in bulk. Packaged volumes account for only 11.6% of the total, a slight increase compared to the 2024/2025 campaign, where they represented 10.4%. Moreover, the extra virgin category dominates exports, accounting for 89.5% of the total volume.
Financial Performance
In terms of finance, export revenues have also progressed. They reached 1,621.2 million dinars, compared to 1,202.3 million dinars for the same period last year, representing a 34.8% increase. However, packaged exports account for only 15.7% of this figure, confirming that the bulk market remains dominant.
Price Trends
In January 2026, the average price of olive oil slightly decreased by 3.2% compared to the same period of the previous campaign, from 12.33 DT/kg to 11.94 DT/kg. Depending on the category, prices vary between 8.81 DT/kg and 16.69 DT/kg, reflecting the diversity of exported qualities.
Geographical Distribution
Europe remains the primary market for Tunisian olive oil, with 55.4% of exports, followed by North America (21.1%), Asia (12.1%), and Africa (7.5%). Spain is the largest importer (30.9%), ahead of Italy (18.9%) and the United States (16.8%).
Organic Olive Oil Exports
For organic olive oil, 12,600 tons were exported for a value of 170.8 million dinars, but the packaged share remains low (7.9%). The average price is 13.60 DT/kg, varying between 12.74 DT/kg for bulk and 23.62 DT/kg for packaged. Italy dominates imports (42%), followed by Spain (22%), France (16%), and the United States (12%).
