Tunisian Olive Oil Exports Continue to Rise
Strong Performance in the First Seven Months of the 2025/2026 Campaign
The Tunisian olive oil exports have continued their strong progression, with 327,400 tonnes exported during the first seven months of the 2025/2026 campaign. This represents a 57.9% increase compared to the same period in the previous campaign, according to data from the National Observatory of Agriculture (Onagri).
Export Revenue Increases by 44.9%
This growth has resulted in export revenue of 4.06 billion dinars, up from 2.8 billion dinars in the same period last year, representing a 44.9% increase. Despite this performance, Tunisian olive oil is still mostly exported in bulk, with packaged oil accounting for only 12.9% of exported volumes, a level that has remained virtually unchanged from the 2024/2025 campaign (13%). In terms of value, these packaged exports generate only 17.2% of total revenue.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil Dominates Export Sales
Extra virgin olive oil dominates foreign sales, accounting for 83.3% of the total exported volume.
Prices Continue to Decline
In May 2026, the average export price was 12.96 dinars per kilogram, down from 13.23 dinars a year earlier, representing a 2% decrease. Prices vary between 8.69 and 16.91 dinars per kilogram, depending on the category.
European Union Remains the Largest Market
The European Union remains the largest market for Tunisian olive oil, absorbing 57.8% of exported volumes, followed by North America (22.8%), Asia (11.5%), and Africa (4.2%).
Top Importing Countries
By country, Spain remains the largest importer, accounting for 33.6% of exported quantities, followed by Italy (19.5%) and the United States (18.3%).
Organic Olive Oil Exports
Organic olive oil exports reached 44,500 tonnes, with a value of 583.4 million dinars. Packaged oil remains marginal, accounting for only 5.5% of exported volumes.
Average Price of Organic Olive Oil
The average price of organic olive oil is 13.10 dinars per kilogram, with a significant difference between bulk (12.91 dinars/kg) and packaged oil (16.44 dinars/kg).
Top Markets for Organic Olive Oil
Italy is the largest market for Tunisian organic olive oil, accounting for 38% of exported volumes, followed by Spain (26%), the United States (24%), and France (8%).
