Huawei to Strengthen Presence in Tunisia with New Energy and Transition Projects
The Chinese group Huawei plans to reinforce its presence in Tunisia through new projects related to energy and energy transition. The announcement was made during a meeting held on Friday, September 12, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy between Minister Fatma Thabet Chiboub and Philippe Wang, Regional President and Head of Digital Energy Strategy for North, West, and Central Africa, covering 28 countries including Tunisia.
Huawei's Expertise in Digital Technologies
During the meeting, Huawei presented its global expertise in using digital technologies to improve energy production, stabilize power grids, and develop storage solutions. The group, which employs nearly 200,000 people worldwide, with 20% in research and development, has already carried out similar projects in several countries.
Strategic Partnerships for a "Green Growth"
The Minister emphasized the importance of establishing strategic partnerships with leading international players to support Tunisia's efforts towards "green growth". She recalled the national objective of achieving 35% of electricity production from renewable energies by 2035, thanks to the implementation of new infrastructure and cooperation with foreign partners.
Huawei's Commitment to Accompany Tunisia
For his part, Philippe Wang reaffirmed Huawei's commitment to accompanying Tunisia in this process, relying on Chinese experience and making innovative solutions available in the fields of smart grids, electric mobility, and control systems.
Huawei's Presence in Tunisia
Present in Tunisia for over twenty years, Huawei currently has a local office employing 200 collaborators. Since 2022, the group has created a specific division dedicated to monitoring and digitizing projects related to renewable energies.
