2025 Passport Power Ranking: Seychelles Leads the Way in Africa

The 2025 passport power ranking published by Henley & Partners has shed light on the Seychelles passport as the most advantageous for international travel in Africa. Ranked 25th globally, the Seychelles passport allows visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 156 destinations worldwide.

In second place in Africa, the Mauritian passport ranks 29th globally, providing easy access to 151 destinations out of the 227 studied.

Other African countries also stand out for the power of their passports. South Africa takes third place in Africa, ranking 48th globally with access to 106 destinations. Botswana and Namibia follow in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with passports offering access to 88 and 81 destinations.

In North Africa, Morocco emerges as the leader in the Mediterranean region, ranking 10th on the continent and 69th globally. With access to a wide range of international destinations, the Moroccan passport is one of the most sought-after in the region. In contrast, Tunisia, which ranks 15th in Africa and 73rd globally, positions itself as the second-best passport in the Mediterranean region.

Algeria, on the other hand, ranks 34th in Africa and 86th globally, offering access to a more limited number of destinations. Egypt and Libya also feature among countries with less powerful passports, with Egypt ranking 40th in Africa (90th globally) and Libya occupying the 53rd place in Africa, being the second-to-last on the continent and 100th globally.
