Hedia Arfaoui Elected to the International Labour Office's Governing Body

Hedia Arfaoui, Deputy Secretary-General in charge of Arab and International Relations at the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), has been elected to the Governing Body of the International Labour Office (ILO), the executive body of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The Governing Body meets three times a year, in March, June, and November.

As stipulated in Article 7 of the International Labour Organization's Constitution, the International Labour Conference elects the members of the Governing Body for a three-year term. The trade unionist received 94 votes in support of her three-year mandate, as decided during the 112th International Labour Conference.

In fact, the elections take place through a secret ballot among three distinct electoral colleges: government, employers, and workers.
