Official Announcement of Salary Increase in Tunisia
The salary increase in Tunisia is now official. In its edition of April 30, 2026, the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic publishes a series of decrees instituting a progressive increase in remuneration between 2026 and 2028, affecting both the public sector, public enterprises, and the private sector.
Context and Objectives
This reform is part of the implementation of the 2026 finance law. It is based on several distinct regulatory texts that set the modalities for revaluation according to professional categories. The stated objective is to adjust incomes in response to economic developments, while spreading the budgetary impact over three years.
Details of the Salary Increase
Public Sector
- State agents, local authorities, and administrative public establishments will benefit from increases through specific premiums.
- These increases can reach up to 120 dinars per month, depending on grades and functions, and will be applied progressively from January 2026, then renewed in 2027 and 2028.
Public Enterprises
- Agents of public enterprises will also receive increases according to professional categories, with variable amounts that can reach up to 120 dinars per month for executives, while execution and management agents will receive lower amounts.
Private Sector
- The revaluation follows a different logic in the private sector.
- Basic salaries in activities governed by collective agreements will increase by 5% per year between 2026 and 2028.
- In parallel, the guaranteed minimum wage (SMIG) is increased. For reference, it is set at over 550 dinars per month for a 48-hour regime from 2026, with increases planned for the following years.
