Tunisian Air Traffic Sees Significant Increase in First 10 Months of 2024
The Office of Civil Aviation and Airports (OACA) has announced a significant increase in Tunisian air traffic for the first 10 months of 2024.
Compared to the same period in 2023, air traffic in Tunisian airspace has increased by 16.1%, totaling 51,310 flights. Airports managed by OACA have also shown an increase in commercial air transport.
In terms of aircraft movements, the period has recorded 67,729 flights, a 5% increase compared to the 64,656 flights of the previous year.
Tunis-Carthage Airport has seen a 4.9% increase, with 49,656 flights. Other airports have also shown significant increases: Djerba-Zarzis (+8.9% with 14,769 flights), Tozeur-Nefta (+48.5% with 358 flights), and Tabarka-Aïn Draham (+4% with 157 flights).
On the other hand, Sfax-Thyna Airport has recorded a 9.5% decrease, with 2,785 flights.
The total number of passengers has also increased, reaching 8,309,713, a 9.1% increase. Tunis-Carthage has welcomed 6,147,596 passengers (+8.5%), while Djerba-Zarzis has seen a 12.5% growth with 2,003,398 passengers.
Tozeur-Nefta and Tabarka-Aïn Draham have recorded increases of 113.1% and 7.4%, respectively, while Sfax-Thyna has seen a 11.3% decrease with 130,912 passengers.
Finally, Tunisian airports managed by OACA and TAV have welcomed a total of 10,964,617 passengers during this period, marking a 12.7% increase compared to 2023. These figures testify to the dynamic recovery of the air sector in Tunisia.
