Networking Event Connects Tunisian Diaspora with Local Startups

On August 7, an event was organized to boost networking between the Tunisian diaspora and the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. The goal was to convince the diaspora of the solidity and potential of startups in Tunisia.

Hammamet Valley Hub (HVH), a startup incubation center founded in 2021, hosted the event at its headquarters. The theme of the event was "Connecting HVH Incubated Startups with the Diaspora". Startups such as Waf Waf House, Cargoween, Ginger, and Gentle Ties were present, each bringing innovative perspectives and promising projects.

The event also highlighted Habibty Market, a social and solidarity-based marketplace dedicated to rural women and artisans. By shopping on Habibty, consumers support artisans while participating in culinary transmission. The use of recyclable packaging and a packaging recovery system demonstrates a commitment to responsible consumption.

Nabil Chouba, DeepPCB Product Manager at InstaDeep, a startup founded by entrepreneur Karim Beguir, was also present at the event.

This event highlighted the richness of ongoing projects in Tunisia and the importance of support and accompaniment for startups. The discussions emphasized the crucial role of hubs like HVH in developing impact projects and promoting innovation.

At the end of the event, Nomane Fehri, President of MDBAN (a network of providential investors from the Maghreb diaspora), shared his vision of business angels. He stated, "I don't invest in heroes, but in humble people." This quote summarizes his distinctive approach to investment and resonates as a call to build an entrepreneurial ecosystem based on authenticity and cooperation.
