According to the Corporate Decarbonization Guide, published in 2024 by GIZ Tunisia, here are the essential steps Tunisian companies must follow to develop a low-carbon strategy. This guide was designed to meet the needs of companies that have not yet addressed this issue.
Step 1: Estimate Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Quantify greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to identify major emitting areas, respond to stakeholder or customer demands, and anticipate regulatory developments.
Step 2: Develop a Low-Carbon Strategy
Define an action plan to reduce emissions and set short, medium, and long-term goals. This enables companies to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels while analyzing risks and opportunities.
Step 3: Implement the Action Plan
Deploy and monitor the measures outlined in the action plan, establishing tracking and performance indicators to ensure goal achievement.
Step 4: Offset Emissions
Once reduction efforts are maximized, offset remaining emissions to contribute to the company's carbon neutrality.
Step 5: Reporting
Transparently communicate GHG emissions and achieved goals to enhance the company's image and meet stakeholder expectations (customers, investors, etc.).
