Social Dialogue in the Retail Sector Yields Agreement

The social discussions in the retail sector have led to a mutually acceptable agreement. Representatives of trade unions and professionals, gathered at the UTICA headquarters on Monday, agreed on the provision of a financial advance to employees, pending the 2025 salary increases.

Key Terms of the Agreement

The agreement provides for a net advance of 450 dinars, to be paid in two installments:

  • A first tranche of 200 dinars is expected in early February 2026
  • Followed by 250 dinars at the beginning of March 2026, as announced by the UGTT

Payment Criteria

The payment will be made based on specific criteria, including:

  • Length of service
  • Date of hiring
  • Absences This approach aims to frame the application of the measure without distorting its spirit.

Confirmation and Scope

Confirming the agreement, Mohamed Barakati, interim secretary general of the General Federation of Food Industries, Tourism, Commerce, and Crafts, indicated that this advance concerns all employees in the large retail sector.

A Temporary Relief

Although this decision does not resolve the issue of salary increases, it offers employees a temporary reprieve. Sometimes, in social negotiations, small steps can be just as important as major announcements.
