Google Tests Verification Badges in Search Results to Combat Fraudulent Sites
Google is currently testing the display of verification badges next to certain businesses in its search results. This initiative aims to help users identify verified sources and avoid fraudulent sites.
Deceptive websites imitating legitimate businesses or services can appear in online search results, exposing users to incorrect information about these companies, misleading them, and potentially harming their reputation.
Molly Shaheen, Google's public affairs spokesperson, told The Verge: "We regularly experiment with features that help buyers identify trustworthy businesses online, and we're currently running a small experiment displaying checks next to certain businesses on Google."
It's worth noting that Google already uses automated systems to detect pages containing suspicious or fraudulent content, preventing them from appearing in search results.
