ELTON Logistics & Services' LNG Regasification Terminal to Become West Africa's Primary LNG Import Facility
GasEntec, a global leader in liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology, along with its affiliates, announced today that it has signed contracts with ELTON Logistics & Services for the delivery of an LNG regasification unit installed on a jetty, as well as associated onshore LNG facilities, for the Dakar LNG terminal in Senegal. This new LNG terminal will become the primary LNG import facility in West Africa, supplying natural gas to a 300 MW combined-cycle power plant located in Cap des Biches, Dakar - the largest power plant in Senegal - as well as several other power plants, industrial customers, and other users. This project supports the ongoing energy transition in Senegal, as the country diversifies its energy sources while promoting economic and industrial growth. The project was awarded under a mandate to address the urgent needs of the national energy sector. GasEntec expects to deliver first gas in the near future, with the full commissioning of the terminal scheduled for the first half of 2027. "This terminal represents a significant milestone in enhancing Senegal's energy security and supporting the country's accelerated industrial growth," said Babacar Tall, CEO of ELTON Logistics & Services. "We are pleased to work with GasEntec, which brings its global expertise in LNG technology and regasification development." Arieh Mimran, President of GasEntec, stated: "We are honored to support Senegal's energy transition. The Dakar LNG terminal symbolizes an unprecedented effort in the country's rapid development. It is a privilege to lead GasEntec as the company provides essential assets to the sovereignty of this great nation." Joongin Ko, Project Director at GasEntec, added: "ELTON Logistics & Services' use of GasEntec's exclusive technology and modular approach for downstream LNG at the Dakar LNG terminal highlights our flexible and rapid deployment capabilities, as well as our ability to meet the most demanding parameters." Founded in South Korea, GasEntec has delivered significant LNG infrastructure across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas, serving sovereign clients, utilities, and industrial companies.
