Tunisian Tourism Sector Faces Challenges Amidst New Check Law

The President of the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies and Tourism, Ahmed Beltaïeb, has announced that the new check law has resulted in a 30% decline in the turnover of travel agencies, calling for the implementation of alternative recovery methods.

Regarding the past tourist season, he specified that revenues reached nearly 7 billion dinars, according to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia. Industry professionals aim to maintain this level of revenue by welcoming 10 million visitors, while the Ministry of Tourism has set a target of 11 million visitors for the current season.

On this topic, Ahmed Beltaïeb estimated that this target is achievable, emphasizing the importance of preserving the positive indicators of the last season through the improvement of service quality.

He also added that this year's objective is to prioritize quality over quantity. Although preferential rates have been offered, the priority is to attract high-yielding tourists, an objective deemed accessible if efforts are combined to improve service quality.

Furthermore, he indicated that some markets have already closed their reservations, awaiting confirmation from other markets.
