Two Tunisian Women Ranked among Top 100 Healthcare Leaders in MENA Region
According to the "Top 100 Healthcare Leaders 2024" ranking, two Tunisian women have been listed among the 100 most powerful leaders in the healthcare sector in the MENA region.
Sara Masmoudi: A Pharmaceutical Industry Leader
The first Tunisian woman to make the list is Sara Masmoudi, ranked 52nd. She has been the CEO of Kilani Group since October 2019. The group operates in the pharmaceutical industry through Teriak and Adwya laboratories, and provides medical services through Medicis. In 2022, Adwya generated $37.2 million in revenue.
Masmoudi is also the CEO of Cinpharm in Cameroon and Cipharm in Côte d'Ivoire, where the group holds significant stakes in both companies.
Olfa Gam: A Leader in Healthcare Excellence
The second Tunisian woman on the list is Olfa Gam, ranked 92nd. She is the General Manager of Cytopharma and also serves as the President of the Tunisian Health Alliance, the first Tunisian healthcare network.
Gam sits on the board of directors of Julphar as a non-executive member since August 2021. She was responsible for operational excellence at GSK from 2016 to 2018.
MENA Healthcare Landscape Evolves towards Integration
This year's list includes 51 leaders based in the United Arab Emirates, 23 in Saudi Arabia, eight in Egypt, four in Qatar, Kuwait, and Morocco, three in Jordan, two in Tunisia, one in Algeria, and one in Lebanon.
The healthcare landscape in the MENA region is evolving towards greater integration, with the emergence of fully comprehensive ecosystems. Key players in the sector are shaping future trends, fueled by systems that rely on abundant data, accessibility, and intersectoral collaboration.
In 2023, the healthcare services market in the MENA region was valued at $226.97 billion and is expected to reach $241.13 billion this year, and $412.25 billion by 2032, according to Fortune Business Insights.
