Tunisian-Egyptian Consortiums to Drive Ambitious Projects in Africa
The Tunisian Minister of Equipment and Housing, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, and her Egyptian counterpart, Cherif Cherbini, Minister of Housing, Public Services, and Urban Communities, have agreed to form Tunisian-Egyptian consortiums to undertake significant projects in their respective countries and expand into promising African markets, according to a statement from the Ministry of Equipment released on Thursday.
During a meeting on the sidelines of the 41st Arab Ministers of Housing and Urban Development Council in Algiers, the two ministers discussed several topics of mutual interest. The Tunisian delegation took the opportunity to present a report on the progress of the eco-friendly and innovative city projects "La Perle du Lac 1" and "La Perle du Lac 2", currently being implemented by "Al Buhaira Invest" company.
The two ministers also decided to implement the agreement established between their respective departments concerning housing, particularly through expert visits to share experiences and examine successful projects in their countries. They also expressed their willingness to encourage joint ventures between Tunisian and Egyptian entrepreneurs.
The 41st Arab Ministers of Housing and Urban Development Council was held at the Abdelatif-Rahal International Conference Center, in parallel with the 8th Arab Housing Congress. Discussions began on Tuesday morning under the theme "Sustainable Urbanism and Construction: Challenges and Promising Opportunities".
The Arab Ministers of Housing and Urban Development Council is an Arab League instance aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordinating efforts among member states in the field of housing and urban development. This includes collaboration between public and private sectors to develop common industries related to construction materials and equipment, while promoting experience sharing and research in this sector.
