The Tunis Chamber of Commerce and Industry Organizes a Technical Workshop on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
The Tunis Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIT), in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and Export Development, and with the support of GIZ Tunisia, is organizing a technical workshop dedicated to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The event will take place on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, at the headquarters of the Practical School of Commerce in Ariana.
This workshop aims to provide Tunisian businesses with a better understanding of the rules of origin and the tools made available by the International Trade Centre (ITC) to facilitate their access to the African market. The objective is to help economic operators take advantage of the opportunities offered by this continental agreement, which aims to stimulate intra-African trade and strengthen the economic integration of the continent.
Experts from the Tunisian customs administration and the Ministry of Commerce will intervene to explain the implications of AfCFTA and answer participants' questions. This exchange framework will also allow businesses to benefit from collective expertise and deepen their knowledge of export procedures and mechanisms to Africa.
The AfCFTA agreement, which came into effect in 2021, aims to create the largest single market in the world, covering 54 countries and over 1.3 billion consumers. For Tunisia, its effective implementation represents a strategic challenge in diversifying its commercial outlets and improving its competitiveness on the continent.
This workshop is part of an approach to support Tunisian businesses seeking to optimize their presence on the African market and better understand the regulatory requirements associated with this agreement.
