Tunisian enterprises exporting to China may soon have access to a new, harmonized certificate of origin model that meets the requirements of Chinese authorities.
Agreement on Certificate of Origin Characteristics
In a watch note published on June 22, 2026, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry indicated that technical discussions with the Chinese side regarding the certificate of origin used in the framework of the free trade agreement have resulted in an agreement on the technical characteristics, form, and content of the document. According to the same source, a first draft of the certificate of origin has already been developed in accordance with the specifications agreed upon by both parties. This draft has been transmitted to the competent authorities for final validation.
Implementation and Distribution of the New Certificate
Once the administrative procedures are completed, the final model will be transmitted to the concerned Chambers of Commerce and Industry so that they can proceed with its official printing and prepare its distribution to exporting companies. This development comes as several economic operators had requested clarifications on the possibility of obtaining technical opinions regarding this document, which is essential for certain export operations to the Chinese market.

The authorities specify that companies and economic operators will be informed of the next steps as soon as the approval process is completed and the new model comes into effect.
