Tunisia Strengthens Its Attractiveness for Italian Investments in Industry and Renewable Energy

The Tunisian Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy received the President of the Italian group Duferco, specialized in steel, renewable energy, and maritime transport, at the ministry's headquarters on Monday, March 17.

The meeting focused on strengthening Italian investments in Tunisia, particularly in solar and wind projects, in line with the country's strategy to diversify its energy sources and enhance its energy security.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of State for Energy Transition, Wael Chouchane, the Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Alessandro Prunas, and high-ranking officials from the ministry.

The Minister expressed her willingness to reinforce Tunisian-Italian cooperation by creating a favorable environment for investments. She highlighted the advantages and opportunities that Tunisia offers to Italian companies looking to develop their activities, particularly within the framework of the economic partnership between the two countries.

Antonio Gozzi, for his part, reaffirmed his group's interest in the Tunisian market and its willingness to explore new strategic investment opportunities.

This visit is part of a larger mission aimed at boosting Italy's economic presence in Tunisia.

As the President of Duferco, Antonio Gozzi also chairs the Italian Federation of Steel Industries (Federacciai) and the group of Italian companies with high energy consumption (Interconnector Energy). He also serves as a special advisor to the Italian General Confederation of Industry (Confindustria), particularly on files related to the Mattei plan for African development.

It is worth noting that the Duferco group, one of the world leaders in its field, achieved a turnover of over $27 billion in 2023 and is present in 21 countries. Its expansion strategy could offer Tunisia significant investment opportunities, promoting job creation and the growth of the green economy.
