According to the latest report from the International Energy Agency (IEA), global coal consumption has reached a new historic high in 2024, totaling 7.8 billion tons.
Despite rhetoric on energy transition and efforts to promote renewable energy, the use of this highly polluting fuel shows no signs of slowing down. While projections indicate stabilization by 2027, no significant decline is expected.
