Enda Tamweel Obtains Double Certification with Gold Level for Client Protection and A+ Rating for Social and Environmental Performance

Enda Tamweel, the country's first microfinance institution, has obtained the gold level in its new client protection certification from SPTF Cerise +. This is not the first time Enda has achieved this distinction, as it initially received the certification in 2015 as part of the Smart Campaign, making it the first microfinance institution in the MENA region to do so. The certification was renewed in 2020.

In addition to this achievement, Enda Tamweel has also obtained an A+ rating for its social and environmental performance, its second rating. With these two distinctions, Enda Tamweel has set itself apart as a leader in client protection, adhering to universal standards for social and environmental performance management.

The institution has taken two new steps in its continuous improvement strategy for service quality and customer-centric offerings, promoting financial, economic, and social inclusion.

The Client Protection Certification is based on 8 protection standards:

  • Responsible knowledge and returns
  • Environmental performance management

The certification is designed to objectively evaluate how an organization deploys the necessary policies and operational practices to protect its clients. The social and environmental rating, on the other hand, assesses an institution's alignment with universal standards for social and environmental performance management, taking into account factors such as the institution's scope and social and environmental responsibility.
