Torrential Rains Render Several Roads Impractical Across the Country

The Ministry of the Interior announced today, October 23, that due to torrential rains, several roads are currently impassable across the country.

This situation is the result of a significant rise in water levels in various wadis, making circulation difficult or impossible on several road axes.

Among the affected roads, the regional road 133 is interrupted at the level of the Aïn M'Dhakker region (Sousse governorate) due to the rise in water levels in the El Kharroub wadi. The situation is similar on the regional road 88 between Sousse and Monastir, at the level of the Hamdoun wadi, where it is impossible to divert traffic.

Furthermore, the regional road 191 connecting Jemmal to Béni Hassen is also cut off due to the elevation of the Bousiala wadi's water level. On the regional road 82 in Msaken, it is possible to divert traffic via the Benzerte intersection.

Other unclassified roads are also affected, particularly in the Moknine region, where several axes linking the localities of Ouled M'ii and Amiret Touazra, as well as those between Qaria Al-Amarat and Khor, are impassable. In Mutammar, the road connecting Thrayet and Wardanine is blocked after a private vehicle was trapped by the waters.

In the south, the national road 14, connecting Sfax to Gafsa via El Mahres, as well as the one between Sfax and Agareb, are also impassable. On the national road 13, at the level of Bir Mlouli between Sfax and Sidi Bouzid, traffic is interrupted due to the rise in water levels in the Mlouli wadi.

The authorities are calling on road users to exercise caution, reduce their speed, respect safety instructions, and avoid taking unnecessary risks in the face of rising water levels.
