Tunisian Parliament Continues Budget Review with Focus on Employment and Vocational Training

The Tunisian Parliament continued its joint plenary session with the National Council of Regions and Districts on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. The meeting focused on examining the specific missions and objectives of the 2025 state budget project, particularly those related to employment and vocational training.

During the session, the minister in charge responded to deputies' inquiries and addressed several key issues. Among them, the importance of community enterprises as a new development model, requiring a change in mentality and a resolution of issues related to public land management.

The minister also announced the creation of an explanatory guide and a communication campaign to better promote these enterprises, as well as the establishment of rigorous monitoring of projects to ensure their success.

The strategic role of the vocational training sector in combating unemployment was also highlighted. The minister emphasized the need to diversify and modernize the specialties offered to meet the needs of the labor market.

A funding of 5 million dinars will be dedicated to supporting projects for people with disabilities, with an obligation to include 2% of this population in recruitments.

Bilateral agreements with France and Italy, as well as negotiations with certain Gulf countries, were mentioned in the context of organized migration.

Furthermore, a particular effort is being made to combat corruption in certain training offices and to strengthen the services of employment offices abroad.

The Secretary of State in charge of community enterprises also provided clarifications. She insisted on the development of strategies to overcome legislative and financial obstacles, the creation of a dedicated website that will be operational next Monday, and a digital platform to track and evaluate the activities of regional structures.
