Elon Musk Slams Trump's Flagship Bill, Quits Government Efficiency Department
Elon Musk, who has officially left the Government Efficiency Department (DOGE), has criticized Donald Trump and his flagship bill, the "One big, beautiful bill". In an excerpt from an interview broadcast by CBS News, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO denounces a text that "undermines work" and increases the budget deficit instead of reducing it.
This project, central to Trump's 2025 program, combines tax cuts, social aid cuts, and anti-immigration measures. However, according to the conservative think tank Tax Foundation, it would increase the deficit by $1.7 to $2.5 trillion over ten years, largely due to the extension of tax cuts adopted in 2017.
Musk, who had thanked Trump "for giving the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending", is therefore leaving the DOGE on a bitter note, estimating that this text goes against budget efficiency efforts. He will now focus on Tesla and SpaceX, whose recent results are considered worrying.
