Tunisia Participates in Egypt Energy Show 2025
The Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, represented Tunisia at the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) on February 17, 2025. Held under the high patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi, the event, themed "Building a Safe and Sustainable Future for Energy," brought together numerous influential figures from the global energy sector.
During the event, the minister participated in a workshop dedicated to "Approaches for Energy Security and Industrial Competitiveness." Under the supervision of the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the workshop gathered ministers and decision-makers from various countries, including Yemen, Greece, Nigeria, Cyprus, as well as representatives from the African Union and international experts. The discussions focused on strategies to adopt for securing energy supply while promoting industrial competitiveness.
In her intervention, Chiboub highlighted Tunisia's strategy, which is centered on developing solid partnerships with the European Union and strengthening tripartite collaboration with Algeria and Italy, particularly through the gas pipeline crossing Tunisia. She also emphasized the importance of the electrical interconnection project between Tunisia and Italy, scheduled for 2028, which will ensure a sustainable energy supply and optimize exchanges of electricity from renewable sources.
Chiboub detailed the main orientations of Tunisia's national strategy for industry and innovation, which relies on several axes:
- Supporting research and technological development
- Reinforcing collaborations between universities and industries
- Improving industrial and technological infrastructure
- Attracting foreign direct investments
- Simplifying administrative procedures
- Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises
- Improving quality and productivity
Thanks to this strategic approach, Tunisia has managed to strengthen the resilience of its industrial sector in the face of global challenges. The country is now recognized for its advances in automotive components, ranking second in Africa, as well as its exports in the aerospace, food (particularly olive oil), pharmaceutical, and textile sectors to Europe.
The Egypt Energy Show 2025 has established itself as a major platform in the energy sector. The event attracted over 500 exhibitors representing leading companies in oil, gas, renewable energy, and technology, as well as 47,000 participants from around the world.
The program featured seven thematic conferences that addressed key topics: energy transition, supporting economic growth, social inclusion, and the latest innovations in renewable and clean energy.
Through its participation, Tunisia has once again demonstrated its commitment to playing an active role in global discussions on the future of energy and promoting its strategic solutions for sustainable industrial development.
