Minister of Finance Highlights Key Challenges Facing Arab and African Markets

The Minister of Finance, Mechket Slama Khaldi, highlighted the main challenges facing Arab and African markets during the annual conference of Arab Capital Markets (Afcm).

She emphasized that this event represents an important opportunity to exchange views and expertise, as well as to strengthen regional integration through urgent themes such as sustainable development, artificial intelligence, facilitated access to small and medium-sized enterprises, and the future of finance in Arab and African countries.

The Minister underscored the strategic role of financial markets in mobilizing resources, supporting investment, attracting foreign capital, and accessing alternative financing sources. She stressed that this requires increased coordination and cooperation between financial markets, as well as the development of protection mechanisms to ensure economic stability, with a view to sustainable development.

The Minister also advocated for unified efforts in the areas of regulation, supervision, digital infrastructure development, and facilitating investment flows between Arab and African markets. She highlighted the importance of experience sharing, which constitutes one of the fundamental pillars to strengthen the region's position as a strategic hub. This opens up perspectives for cooperation, dialogue between institutions, and would allow them to elevate markets to a higher level, serving the interests of people and national economies.

She recalled that Arab and African financial markets have recorded positive indicators in recent years, thanks to improved performance.
