Dubai's RTA Awards $5.5 Billion Contract for Dubai Metro Blue Line Project

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has awarded a contract worth AED 20.5 billion (USD 5.5 billion) for the Dubai Metro Blue Line project to a consortium of three companies.

The consortium consists of Turkish companies MAPA and Limak, as well as Chinese state-owned enterprise CRRC.

The 30-kilometer-long metro line will feature 14 stations.

The project, set to begin in April 2025, is expected to be completed by September 9, 2029, marking the 20th anniversary of the Dubai Metro's opening, which launched its Red Line with 10 stations on September 9, 2009.

The "Blue Line" is expected to generate estimated economic benefits of AED 56.5 billion by 2040, thanks to time savings, reduced fuel consumption, fewer road accidents, and lower carbon emissions.
