Ministry of Finance to Crack Down on Tax Evasion through Cash Register System

The Ministry of Finance is determined to combat one of the main sources of tax evasion, particularly in the consumption of goods and services on the spot, such as tea salons and restaurants. To achieve this, the Ministry is taking action to implement cash registers for operations in these establishments.

The Ministry has just announced that an information system for managing these cash registers has been set up, along with a virtual space dedicated to suppliers of these cash registers. This space allows suppliers to test the storage, security, and transfer of data to the central information platform, in accordance with the technical specifications outlined in the technical and functional specifications document. The virtual space also enables the consultation and download of the "Technical and Functional Specifications Document" and the "Technical Procedures Manual", which facilitates the updating of cash register programs. Additionally, the space allows for integration testing to verify the compatibility of these software with the central information system.

The Ministry of Finance is inviting companies wishing to supply these cash registers to register and adhere to the system through the following link: https://lnkd.in/d8rd455W. The Distance Tax Information Center can also be reached at 81 100 400 for any inquiries.

This measure is expected to significantly recover VAT, a key source of revenue for the state budget. At the same time, engaging in these activities will no longer be easy, as the notion of quick gains and evading the administration's scrutiny will be re-examined. Gradually, this will affect suppliers of these spaces, who often operate in the parallel economy. Digitalization is advancing rapidly, and it is clearly the main weapon in the fight against tax evasion. However, we continue to believe that accompanying these measures with a general tax amnesty for one year, with a flexible repayment schedule, is the best way to encourage merchants to regularize their situations.
