Twelve African Startups Selected as Finalists for the 7th Edition of Ecobank Fintech Challenge

A prize of $50,000 is up for grabs as twelve African startups have been selected as finalists for the 7th edition of the Ecobank Fintech Challenge.

Ecobank, a leading independent pan-African banking group, serves over 32 million customers in the consumer and business sectors across 33 African countries.

The annual Ecobank Fintech Challenge, now in its 7th edition, offers startups the opportunity to collaborate with the bank through its network of 33 countries. In addition to the $50,000 prize, fintech startups that align with the bank's strategic objectives also have the chance to partner with Ecobank and evolve their solutions.

Twelve finalists were chosen from a hybrid semi-final that brought together 40 selected fintech startups from over 1,550 applications from 70 countries across Africa and other regions of the world.

Among the finalists, two startups - BuuPass and Melanin Kapital Neobank - are from Kenya, while two others - Sawport Video Banking as a Virtual Branch and Sproutly - are from Nigeria.

The remaining finalists are Daba Finance (Côte d'Ivoire), Easy Equities (South Africa), Exuus (Rwanda), MiaPay (Togo), PaySika (Cameroon), Proboutik (Senegal), Vaultpay (DRC), and YMO Africa (Guinea).

These finalists will present their solutions at the grand finale of the Ecobank Fintech Challenge on September 27, 2024, which will take place at the Ecobank Pan-African Centre in Lomé, Togo. The event will be live-streamed on Ecobank Group's social media networks, allowing a global audience to participate.
