February 18, 2025
During the closing seminar of the DigiHealth Tour Tunisia project, Minister of Health Mustapha Ferjani emphasized the strategic importance of global digitalization in reinforcing governance, optimizing hospital management, and improving the efficiency of healthcare establishments. The event was attended by Alexandre Arrobbio, representative of the World Bank in Tunisia.
According to an official ministry statement, the DigiHealth Tour project represents a major breakthrough in the digitization of the healthcare sector. Launched in November 2023, the project has covered all governorates of the Republic, involving over 2,000 healthcare professionals in interactive meetings. These encounters enabled the diagnosis of challenges, the exchange of experiences, and the improvement of healthcare information systems.
Minister Ferjani reiterated that digital transformation is an essential and sustainable approach, requiring constant monitoring and continuous development. He also highlighted the contribution of artificial intelligence in refining medical diagnoses and strengthening therapeutic decision-making, while emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity to ensure the confidentiality and protection of patients' personal data.
To accelerate this digital transition, the minister recommended:
- Disseminating and simplifying the use of digital solutions in hospitals
- Intensifying continuous training for healthcare professionals to facilitate their integration into digital systems
- Reinforcing cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data
- Exploring further opportunities offered by artificial intelligence in data analysis and medical decision-making
The statement notes that this project benefits from the financial and technical support of several partners, including the World Bank, the French Development Agency, the European Union, GIZ, UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the "Seha" project in partnership with the US Embassy, as part of efforts to promote digitalization and strengthen governance in healthcare establishments.
