Tunisia Takes a New Step in Valuing its Agri-Food Products

On June 16, the Ministry of Industry, and Energy officially awarded the Tunisian quality label to two canned harissa producers: Modern Conservatories of Cap Bon (Comocap) and Carthage Food Cap d'Or.

This recognition is part of a national approach aimed at promoting high-quality processed products and strengthening the presence of Tunisian harissa on international markets. Chaired by Minister Fatma Thabet Chiboub, the meeting was held at the ministry's headquarters, attended by members of the labeling committee, general directors of the Group of Food Canning Industries, representatives of industrial technical centers, the National Institute of Standardization and Industrial Property) (Innopri), the National Accreditation Council, and the General Directorate of Food Industries.

By awarding this quality label, the authorities not only recognize the high level of compliance and expertise of these enterprises but also send a strong signal in favor of the competitiveness of the sector. According to the minister, this distinction allows for the valorization of Tunisian products by conferring added value and improving their productivity and quality.

This approach does not stop at harissa. In the same framework, the minister announced that specific quality olive oil is included in this process, and a feasibility study is underway to award this label to Tunisian dates, another flagship of agricultural exports.
