The Digital Currency Group Strengthens its Presence in Africa with 12 New Investments in 2024

The American venture capital firm, The Digital Currency Group (DCG), has bolstered its presence in Africa with 12 new investments in 2024, marking a significant acceleration of its commitment to the continent.

Specializing in supporting innovative companies in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space, DCG began investing in Africa in 2021 and now boasts 23 transactions across Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania, with a total of over $4 million deployed.

Of the 12 investments made this year, nine focus on fintechs, promoting financial inclusion and innovation, one leverages artificial intelligence applied to Web2 technologies to optimize productivity, and two companies concentrate on data management and the development of scalable infrastructures.

Among the startups supported by DCG are Kashier, TurnStay, Zone, Tappi, Busha, Djamo, Stitch, and NALA, the latter having received nearly $2 million in 2022, one of the largest financings in DCG's African portfolio.
