Tunisian Date Exports See Significant Growth in 2023/2024 Campaign

Revenue Up 22.7% and Volume Up 18.1% Compared to Previous Year

According to the "Onagri Vigilance" report published by the National Observatory of Agriculture (Onagri), Tunisian date exports have recorded a significant increase during the first eleven months of the 2023/2024 campaign, from October 2023 to August 2024.

Export Revenue Reaches 874 Million Dinars

The total revenue from date exports has reached 874 million dinars, representing a 22.7% increase compared to the same period of the previous campaign. The total quantity exported has also risen to 140,500 tons, marking an 18.1% increase.

Average Price of Dates Up 3.9%

The average price of dates has also seen a 3.9% increase, reaching 6.22 dinars per kilogram compared to 5.99 dinars during the same period of the previous year.

Morocco Remains Top Market for Tunisian Dates

Morocco remains the largest market for Tunisian dates, accounting for 27.5% of exports, followed by Italy with 12.2% and France with 12%.

Organic Date Exports on the Rise

Organic date products have also represented a significant share of exports. During this period, Tunisia exported 8,556 tons of organic dates worth 92.2 million dinars, with an average price of 10.78 dinars per kilogram. Although these products account for only 6.1% of the total volume exported, they represent 10.5% of the total value of date exports.

Germany Leads in Organic Date Imports

It is worth noting that Germany is the largest importer of Tunisian organic dates, accounting for 37% of exports, followed by Belgium and the Netherlands.
