Protecting Children Online: A Top Priority

The protection of children online has become an absolute priority, according to the Minister of Communication Technologies, Sofiene Hemissi. During the first National Forum on the Protection of Children Online in Ben Arous, he emphasized the importance of securing the digital space for young people in an increasingly connected world where artificial intelligence is progressing rapidly.

The Importance of Vigilance

The Minister called for increased vigilance in the face of dangers that threaten children on the Internet, including the loss of cultural references, the impact on their behavior and identity. To address this, he stressed the need for collaboration between institutions and social actors to prevent these risks.

Promoting Cybersecurity Culture

Yassine Jemil, Director of the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANCS), explained that his agency is implementing awareness and training programs for educators, media, and institutions to promote a better cybersecurity culture and encourage responsible use of technologies. He also emphasized the importance of:

  • Regularly discussing online safety with children
  • Teaching them to be critical of online content
  • Creating effective parental control systems that combine digital tools, educational support, and psychological monitoring

Key Priorities

The discussions during the forum highlighted several priorities, including:

  • Strengthening digital security in schools
  • Preventing online violence and exploitation
  • Promoting the key role of media and educational structures in protecting minors in the cyber space

By working together, we can create a safer online environment for children and ensure that they can navigate the digital world with confidence and security.
