No Major Breach in Tunisian Banking Systems
The Banking and Financial Council (CBF) and its Banking Sector Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT Bancaire du CBF) have announced that no major intrusion has occurred in Tunisian banks' computer systems, despite rumors about the publication of banking data.
Following information circulating in the media and on social networks, the CBF and CERT Bancaire du CBF conducted in-depth investigations. These investigations confirmed that banking systems were not infiltrated. The origin of the access was rather from personal terminals.
Tunisian banks have robust protection systems conforming to international standards, allowing them to contain these attempts. CERT Bancaire du CBF reacted quickly on May 29, 2025, by launching alerts, supporting investigations, and organizing coordination meetings with the Central Bank of Tunisia and the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANCS).
To reinforce security, the CBF strongly recommends that clients exercise increased vigilance and adopt good habits. It is advised never to communicate codes via email, or SMS, to change passwords regularly, and to regularly update antivirus software and equipment.
Banks, through CERT Bancaire du CBF and in coordination with authorities, are fully mobilized to secure clients' accounts and strengthen online service protection. Customer relations centers are also available to the public for any claims or information requests.
