Nigeria and South Africa Show Highest Cryptocurrency Wallet Ownership Rates in 2024
According to the Global Survey on Crypto and Web3 2024 report published on December 10 by ConsenSys, in collaboration with YouGov, Nigeria and South Africa have the highest rates of cryptocurrency wallet ownership in 2024. This study, conducted among over 18,000 people aged 18-65 in 18 countries, highlights the most advanced markets in terms of cryptocurrency adoption.
Nigeria stands out with a record-breaking ownership rate of 73%, followed closely by South Africa at 68%. The Philippines, Vietnam, and India occupy the next spots with 54%, 54%, and 52%, respectively. In contrast, in countries like Japan, Argentina, Canada, France, and Italy, less than a third of respondents claim to own or have purchased cryptocurrencies.
