Relaunch of Mazouna Industrial Complex and Acceleration of Hospital Projects Now Top National Priorities

The relaunch of the Mazouna industrial complex in Sidi Bouzid and the acceleration of three hospital projects are now among the top national priorities, following the sixth major projects committee meeting held on November 18, 2025, under the presidency of Prime Minister Sarra Zaafrani Zenzeri.

Validation of the Mazouna Industrial Complex Project

The meeting validated the integration of the Mazouna industrial complex reactivation project into the official list of major projects. The plan presented by the Ministry of Industry includes the creation of a plastic packaging manufacturing and decoration unit, as well as a fertilizer packaging unit. This reopening is expected to replace part of the imports of packaging, reduce supply delays for Tunisian industries, and relaunch economic activity in the region, with sustainable jobs expected for young people in Mazouna and surrounding areas.

Hospital Projects

On the health side, the government gave the green light to immediately engage in the reconstruction procedures of the main building of the Hédi Chaker University Hospital in Sfax, accelerate the renovation of the Bir Ali Ben Khalifa Hospital, and finalize the construction of the new regional hospital of category B in Thala, in the Kasserine governorate. The Ministry of Health reaffirmed that these projects are essential for strengthening hospital capacity in areas where pressure on public services remains high.

Rapid Execution of Public Projects

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for rapid execution of all public projects, recalling that they are part of the President of the Tunisian Republic's vision for balanced coverage of services in all regions and a direct impact on investment, employment, and growth. She also called on central and regional structures to remove administrative obstacles and ensure continuous monitoring on the ground to guarantee the delivery of these infrastructure projects on time.
