Unemployment among African Graduates: A Call for a Paradigm Shift

A five-day conference and summer university on the theme "Unemployment among African Graduates: A Call for a Paradigm Shift" will take place in Hammamet from October 1st to 5th, 2024.

Organizers and Partners

The event is organized by the African Center for Career Improvement and Skills Support (Access) in partnership with the University of Leipzig, Germany.

Conference Objectives

The main objective of the conference is to explore the theoretical economic foundations linking university education to economic growth. The conference will also analyze the qualitative challenges facing higher education in several African countries, where graduate unemployment is on the rise.

Summer University Program

The summer university will offer skill-building activities for teachers, doctoral students, and university staff. Practical workshops will be organized to introduce innovative methodologies in research, teaching, and university management. These workshops will provide participants with the opportunity to interact with Tunisian economic and political actors, thereby strengthening university-enterprise cooperation in Tunisia and beyond.

International Networking

The event will bring together participants from Tunisia, Ghana, Benin, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Germany, establishing networks and facilitating international exchanges. The goal of these exchanges is to share local experiences and build bridges between the African and European continents to address the challenges of graduate unemployment.

By fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, this conference and summer university aim to contribute to a paradigm shift in addressing the pressing issue of unemployment among African graduates.
