A recent table published by Hive Systems, a company specializing in computer security systems, highlights the time required to crack a password based on its length and complexity.
As observed over the years, a password is not secure if it's too short and simple. To illustrate, a 5-character password composed only of lowercase letters can be cracked in just 2 minutes. On the other hand, it would take approximately 479 years to decipher a 9-character password containing a mix of lowercase letters, uppercase letters, and special characters.
The simplest way to protect yourself is to use a password manager, which generates strong and unique passwords for each account.
