Government Launches Comprehensive Reform of Healthcare System and Social Security

The government is going beyond the medical emergency. A global structural reform of the healthcare system and social security is officially launched.

The sixth decision of the council is also very important. It concerns a radical revision of the healthcare system, social security, and health coverage. The Minister of Social Affairs presented the state of the social security funds and the proposed reform paths.

The message from the head of government is unambiguous. Partial solutions are over. The reform will be global, coherent, and profound. It is an absolute priority of the state, within the framework of the President of the Republic's guidelines.

The state also wants to reduce its dependence on imports. The local production of generic drugs will be encouraged. Tunisia aims for a strategic positioning on the African and international markets.

A national roadmap for vaccine production will be developed. The list of essential medicines will be updated. Digital technology is becoming a central lever for the sustainability of the system.

A principle guides the whole process. Access to care is a human right. It must be guaranteed to all, everywhere in Tunisia, without exception.
