Upcycl'Art & Design: Where Art Meets Sustainability

Yesterday, Thursday, February 13, marked the closing of the second session of Upcycl'Art & Design, a gathering of artists, upcyclers, and recyclers brought together by Startup Village and Medianet. Although the exhibition came to a close, the journey of these artists towards new horizons has only just begun. The artworks will continue to be showcased online and available for purchase at affordable prices, considering their artistic value.

The spirit that united these artists was the idea of creating something beautiful from discarded, rejected, or broken objects, giving new life to the transformed and worked-on pieces. Multiple disciplines and materials intersected, including weaving, paper, cardboard, and plastic shaping, ceramics, wood, and other creative skills and products.

Iheb Beji, CEO of Medianet, who initiated the project, stated that he envisioned a project that, through recycling and upcycling, could produce beautiful objects. This transformation was only possible thanks to the talent and creative vision of the artists. The idea was to create not only artworks but also functional objects for daily use.

The key figures of this second edition were announced by Ihsen Ben Mansour, project manager and participating artist: 37 participating artists, 219 exhibited works, 1,169 website visits, over 1,500 visitors, 75,000 views on digital platforms, and over 7 million views on television – a perfect illustration of its success.

Upcycl'Art was an opportunity to bring together enemies of waste and pioneers of the circular economy. It celebrated ecology, recycling, upcycling, and utility, as well as innovation, creativity, and art.
