Shanghai Ranking 2024: Harvard University Remains at the Top

The Shanghai Ranking, published for the first time in June 2003 by the Center for World-Class Universities (CWCU) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, has released its 2024 ranking of the world's top universities.

American and British Universities Dominate the Top 10

Eight out of the top 10 universities in the Shanghai Academic Ranking 2024 are American, while two are British. For the second consecutive year, Harvard University has been ranked as the best university globally, with a score of 100.

Changes in the Top 10

In 2024, the University of Oxford has climbed to 6th place, while Princeton University has fallen to 7th position. Last year, Princeton occupied 6th place, while Oxford was 7th, but their positions have been reversed this year. Additionally, the California Institute of Technology has risen from 9th to 8th place, joining Columbia University, which has maintained its 8th place from last year.

Representation from North Africa

Among the 1000 ranked institutions, the University of Tunis El Manar is the only representative from Tunisia. Similarly, in Morocco, only Hassan II University of Casablanca features in this ranking. On the other hand, no Algerian university is present in the list.
