Tunis Stock Exchange Updates Tunindex20 Composition
The Tunis Stock Exchange has updated the composition of its Tunindex20 index. Two values, Euro-Cycles and MPBS, have left the index and been replaced by City Cars and STAR. No capping factor will be applied to the new additions.
Index Composition Review
For reference, the index composition is subject to regular review, which is carried out annually in December, and exceptional reviews are conducted quarterly in March, June, and September to ensure good representation of the index. The index universe consists of the top 25 floating market capitalizations listed on the main market of the Tunis Stock Exchange, with a stay period of more than one month, continuously quoted and remaining continuously quoted during the annual distribution of listed securities.
Objective of the Review
This review aims to reflect the real evolution of the market in terms of liquidity and floating capitalization. The arrival of STAR strengthens the representation of the financial sector, which is already present with eight banks and one leasing company. The integration of City Cars, an automotive dealer, diversifies the index towards consumption and services, replacing an industrial company and a construction materials specialist.
Impact of the Update
The update is a common technical operation that has no impact on stock prices. However, for investors, this movement confirms that the liquidity of certain positions is an important factor, especially when the market is going through difficult times. This is particularly useful for foreign investors who incorporate this factor into their initial investment decision. It creates short-term arbitrage windows, allowing for more dynamic trading.
