Ciments de Bizerte Records a Loss of 34.36 Million Dinars in 2023

The Ciments de Bizerte company has recorded a loss of 34.36 million dinars in 2023, an increase compared to the loss of 28.95 million dinars in 2022.

This loss is partly due to the decrease in quay revenues, which suffered a decline of 0.63 million dinars in 2023, mainly due to the incident at the Bizerte bridge.

Furthermore, the production of clinker was below the company's normal capacities, resulting in significant costs: 12.59 million dinars for sold production and 0.61 million dinars for stock.

This situation led to a negative gross margin of 2.67 million dinars, slightly better than the 3.03 million dinars loss recorded in 2022.

The decrease in production, caused by numerous shutdowns (248 days in total), including 199 days due to a lack of petroleum coke and stock financing issues, is the main reason for this deterioration.

In addition to the decrease in production, financial charges have significantly increased, recording a rise of 2.13 million dinars in 2023 to reach 14.17 million dinars. This increase is due to the rescheduling of certain credits in Tunisian dinars, as well as the dinarization and rescheduling of euro-denominated loans.

Regarding the fiscal aspect, the company's adherence to the tax amnesty allowed it to avoid penalties and recovery fees worth 2.92 million dinars, generating a profit of 0.39 million dinars thanks to accounting adjustments.

However, the examination of tax accounts revealed an additional provision for tax risk of 4.07 million dinars and a tax prescription product of 8.04 million dinars.
